The Summer issue of magicseen takes you on a worldwide trip that will make your holiday plans look like a quick jog to the corner shop! We start in Scotland with a visit to ultimate-laid-back-guy R. Paul Wilson. If you think he's only all about card tricks, think again! From Scotland we travel to Brazil to hear about magic prodigy Henry Vargas, and from there we jump to China to interview Zenneth Kok, our first foray into that huge continent. Turning back towards the UK we stop over in Holland to have a cup of tea and a biscuit with Hans Klok, pop into Ireland for the concluding part of our interview with Keith Barry, and then finally, back on home turf, we catch up with magicseen favourite Ian Keable. Phew, thousands of miles and all from the comfort of your favourite armchair. The July issue also has some great feature articles too. We take a look at The Flying Ring and try to assess whether it is the greatest close up trick ever, and to help you get the stuff together if you want to perform the effect, we review a range of Flying Ring products. Michael J. Fitch tells us about his fantastic trip to Las Vegas where we discover that waving his magicseen 'pass' around got him treated like royalty and also ushered into the presence of some of the biggest names in magic including David Copperfield, Penn and Teller and Mac King. The Bookshelf this time moves on to the 1990s with a retrospective review of Harry Lorayne's card book classic Trendsetters, Jay Fortune serves up another of his Think Tank columns and The Masterclass section offers you two close up effects to try. Another big Review Section, plus news, letters and other fun stuff round up a sunny July issue which will keep you warm even if the weather doesn't. Available on subscription, or as a single copy or as an instant download right now from the magicseen website. Just click the title link above.
Last month saw the Birmingham Dealer Night and it was a huge success. Thank you to all the guys and gals who came along and helped to make it such a busy and happy occasion. You can read a report of the evening by clicking on the title link above. The next Dealer Night is set for Monday 12th October 2009 and it will be at The Chequers Hotel, Oxford Street, Newbury. If you want to ensure that you get a place you can book right now. It costs just £10 but if you pre-book you get a £20 credit voucher to spend on the night. Those who came to the last one in Birmingham have already expressed a wish for me to repeat it in their area again sometime in the future, so get yourself to Newbury and give yourself a treat.
If you haven't discovered our range of inexpensive downloadable routines yet, you are missing out on a great resource. E-Routines are pdf text files, each of which gives full instructions for a routine extracted from my range of books and lecture notes. They cost just £3.00 each and the material on offer is hugely varied with close up, stand up, children's and mentalism all covered. There are 30 different ones to choose from, and now for 22 of them, you will be able to watch an online video dem of the routine before you buy. Click on the title link above and then click on any of the camera symbols to get your pre-view dem.
As you may have noted from the write up above, the current issue of magicseen has a major article on the classic Flying Ring. With that in mind, I thought it would be appropriate to have my version as this month's featured video dem. Click the title link to watch the performance.
