A Wrinkle On - Credit Scare

MO HOWARTH

Mo included this little bit of presentational nonsense when writing to me and it sounds nicely silly! Instead of having a spectator try to frighten his credit card out of the envelope by saying BOO, or some other such noise or phrase, Mo hands him a small horn which he bought in a cycle shop. Mo says it looks really incongruous to see a large dinner jacketed man hooting a tiny horn at an envelope and creates much amusement at the table. I'll bet it does!

IAN THOMSON

Ian sent an e-mail to say how much he enjoyed Credit Scare and also to tell me about a small wrinkle which was suggested by his wife!

Instead of using the plastic card with 'Never Trust A Magician' on it, Ian has made one using his business card. His contact details are on one side and on the other side it simply says, "Trust no one!".

The prepared business card is then popped into one of those self-laminating pouches in order to increase its thickness and thus feel more like the credit card it is supposed to be when inside the envelope held by the spectator. At the end of the trick the spectator can be left with the laminated card, thus completing a piece of self promotion.

Ian also says that if you happen to be working in a venue where they may not be keen on you giving away your own business card, you could make up some special cards featuring your name and the name of the place where you are working. The great thing about this idea is that it is very adaptable.
