A Wrinkle On - Spot The Difference

KIM LONG

Kim's set of cards feature a King and three indifferent cards. Instead of calling it Spot The Difference he has named the competition CAN YOU FIND THE KING? On the back of the blue envelope supplied he has written CAN YOU FIND THE KING (obviously if your set has a different court card you would change the name accordingly).

Having taken the cards out of the envelope and replaced the 'one' extra one at the beginning of the routine, Kim turns the envelope so that CAN YOU FIND THE KING is facing the audience and he props it up against something on his table so that it stays in view. This gives a logic for why the window side of the envelope is left facing away from the audience - it is so they can see the writing on the back of the envelope (good thinking).

Each time the envelope is used, it is always replaced with the words facing the audience. At the end of the routine the King has vanished so the spectator who lent the money did not find the King - pity!

Still, as compensation perhaps he would like the envelope. At this point Kim hands the spectator the envelope and just as the spectator goes to take it, he twists the envelope over so that the card back is seen through the window. The spectator then gets to remove the card and discovers the missing King, so he DID find it after all, and so gets his money back. This also means that the envelope has been sort of examined because the spectator has removed the card himself from inside. This seems like a really good variation.
