A plastic card such as a credit card or membership card is wrapped in a bank note leaving the two ends of the card on view at either end of the note. A sharp knitting needle is then taken and thrust right through the centre of the wrapped card. Both sides of the card are shown to reveal that the needle really does penetrate from one side to the other. Yet when the needle is removed and the card unwrapped and handed out for examination, the plastic card is found completely undamaged even though there are two holes in the bank note!
