I would guess that most commercial close up magicians have a range of show fees which they select from based on a number of factors pertinent to the booking. So, depending on the travel distance required to get to the venue, how long a show it is, whether it is a business or private social event perhaps, numbers attending and so on.

Certainly one of the ways that I have used to establish a range of show offerings and prices, is to quote different rates for varying amounts of time required for me to work. It makes sense to me that if a booker wants mix and mingle magic for two hours, he should pay a bit more than someone having a smaller event who only requires a one hour performance. Magic Things To Sort In A Virus Lockdown

None of us would have chosen to be forced to stay at home for weeks on end with our nearest and dearest perhaps, but there is a silver lining to home imprisonment, and that is it gives you a chance to finally get round to the important job of sorting your magic stuff out once and for all. Here are my suggestions for what you should do.

Firstly, go and stand in front of your magic bookcase and marvel at just how many books you have gathering dust there. Appreciate fully the depth of knowledge available to you in these tomes, note the huge array of magic’s finest thinkers who have given their all for your magical education, and then rearrange them all into alphabetical order by author. Some Mentalists Undervalue Magic

Last month for the first time I attended The Event, which is a day of mentalism run by Joshua Jay, Andi Gladwin and Luke Jermay as a forerunner to The Session convention which takes place over the following two days.

Although I have always incorporated some elements of mentalism in my shows, and indeed have devised quite a lot of this type of material, it’s not an area of entertainment that I major on, and so I thought it would be interesting to get involved with a day dedicated just to this branch of our art.
